After receiving some feedback for my previous Job\r\n\t\tLog<\/a> both in the comments,\r\n\tand from talking to people that read it, I decided to explain a little better,\r\n\tnow that I have a clearer head, exactly what I’m looking for in a job. It is,\r\n\tof course, bad practice to change an entry that has already received comments\r\nso I am posting this update on the subject that explains things better<\/p>\r\n

I\u2019m looking for a job as a web developer. I want to work for a company that\r\n\tis as keen on standards compliant coding and accessibility of the web as\r\n\tI am, or at least one to whom I can demonstrate the validity of this point\r\n\tof view. I am dubious about the harmful\r\n\t.NET technology<\/a> which\r\n\tappears to blatantly\r\n\tproduce invalid code<\/a> and seems to be directed largely towards\r\n\tentrenching dependence on Internet Explorer and other non-compliant Microsoft\r\n\tproducts at the expense of the rest of the world.<\/p>\r\n

Searching and applying for a job is much about finding a company that needs\r\n\tmy talents. It seems to be difficult to find a company whose site shows that\r\n\tthey care about validation and standards compliance, so finding an employer\r\n\twho might be impressed by my skills in this area is big challenge.<\/p>\r\n

My dilemma is that far too many decisions seem to be based on marketing or\r\n\tfinancial reasons rather than what coding is valid, and what is the right thing\r\n\tto do. My challenge is to demonstrate to a potential employer that an effective,\r\n\tvalid and accessible site can be produced without compromising their financial\r\n\timperatives. I want to make a difference; to improve the quality, usability,\r\n\tand accessibility of the web as a whole – I am not in this to make a quick buck,\r\n\tas many appear to be, I just want to make a reasonable living and perform a\r\n\tvaluable service at the same time.
